Collection: Manuka HoneyHoney and sweets with an MGO rating
Manuka honey comes from the nectar of the manuka plant, which grows mainly in New Zealand. We only stock it with a certified MGO rating, because that shows how high-quality and genuine a manuka honey is. On its own it tastes bold, and in fruit gums and sweets it becomes an ingredient for something sweet in between. We choose makers who state openly what is in the jar.

Manuka honey and the MGO rating
MGO stands for methylglyoxal, a compound that occurs naturally in manuka honey. The rating is given in milligrams per kilogram and is the most important indicator of quality and authenticity. The higher the number, the more methylglyoxal the honey contains. We only add manuka honey to our range if its MGO rating is certified.
The manuka plant is a shrub with small white flowers. Because it only flowers for a few weeks a year, manuka honey is rare and valued accordingly. Its flavour is darker and spicier than that of most blossom honeys, with a bold, slightly caramel note. Certified manuka honey is tested in a laboratory for its MGO content before it goes on sale.
Enjoy it straight from the spoon or in warm, not hot, tea. As an ingredient, it goes into fruit gums and sweets. It keeps best in a dry place at room temperature. Matching teas are in Tea, more sweet things in Fruit Snacks & Chocolate and all snacks in Food.
